Leanne Violet (b. 1999) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Cheltenham, South West England. Originally from the South East, she studied BA Photography, graduating in 2021, and went on to complete a PGCE in 2022. Alongside her role as a secondary school art teacher, she maintains a growing practice that spans textiles, painting and lens-based media.

Her work explores how movement -through time, memory and domestic ritual - shapes our sense of identity, care and belonging. Using reclaimed fabrics, hand embroidery and textile collage, Violet reflects on the rhythms of women’s labour and the emotional endurance carried through everyday materials. These slow, deliberate processes offer resistance to the fast pace of contemporary life, placing value on time, touch and repetition.

Violet's work is grounded in themes of connection, memory, and labour, often drawing on domestic materials and processes to explore overlooked rituals of care.

Working primarily with found fabrics, hand embroidery, and textile collage, she uses slow, deliberate techniques to reflect on emotional endurance and the hidden histories embedded in everyday materials.

The Stitch that Bit Back

Peter (patter) 2026, is presented as part of the Fringe Arts Bath Festival 2026 within The Stitch That Bit Back exhibition. Made entirely from reclaimed fabrics and worn garments, the sculpture reflects an ongoing practice centred on ‘storied matter’, materials that carry memory, repair and traces of previous lives.

Drawing on folkloric animal presences associated with luck, labour and chance, Peter exists as a quiet, watchful figure. His stitched surface reveals handling and mending, while the alert posture suggests an attentiveness to the domestic spaces it inhabits. Rather than resolving uncertainty, the work stays with it, exploring how small rituals and repeated actions help navigate what cannot be fixed or known.
The sculpture is now sold, however, similar pieces could  be created on request. Click here for commissions. For more information on the exhibition visit:
