year one has felt like being pulled in every direction at once. Pushed, questioned, stretched further than I expected. Difficult in ways I couldn’t have planned for, but also completely rewarding in the best way ✨

A lot of this year has been about learning how to sit with uncertainty, follow instinct, and let the work become what it needs to be. Keeping the creative flow going and becoming a champion juggler 🫶

All of this alongside teaching, commissions, and everything in between. Messy, constant, and 100% worth it.

Very lucky to be surrounded by such thoughtful, intelligent , and talented people. It wouldn’t be the same without them. 💗

A new character enters the tale… 🦊

This fox is formed from discarded circuitry and fragments of obsolete tech, an embodiment of appetite, extraction, and surveillance.

I’ve been exploring a reimagining of the fox and the crow as an investigation into our growing reliance on digital systems , who speaks, who learns, who profits?

Where Beatrice is hand-dyed, slow, and rooted in the natural world, the Freddie the Fix is made from synthetic materials to represent systems that harvest, replicate, and persuade.

I had so much fun @thewilsonchelt First Table event on Wednesday! Several of my new moth pins flew off to new homes! It was so lovely to connect with art lovers and makers alike 💗

Don’t worry if you couldn’t make it, I have just listed all the remaining moths on my online shop.

Each one is completely unique and made from sustainably sourced recycled materials, so no two will ever be identical. The moths are designed to be worn as pins and then when not worn as a form of textile taxidermy.

Last summer I made a cute little swarm of recycled fabric moth pins, designed to be a piece of wearable art 🦋

This summer moths are back with a more durable design, using the sewing machine for parts of the work means I can keep them at a lower cost point. Don’t worry, they will have all the buttons and trims that the previous ones had. A 1950s chain stitch machine in action 🧵

Hand powered and built to last, this little machine still lays down perfect stitches decades later. There’s something special about feeling every movement as it works. I found this gem on Vinted and with a little help from @the.kiwi.fruit.is.cute I got it up and running! A new needle and a little oil and it’s sewing perfectly. If I can master it I’d like to use it for the free motion works I make.

Instagram just added picture comments! I’d love to see what kind of vintage tools you all use in your work 💗✨

Spent this morning learning the magic behind natural dyeing at the Tewkesbury History Festival with @thingshandmade and I’m officially obsessed.

We explored how plants can transform fabric, working with marigold, madder, and weld.

As someone who works with secondhand textiles, unlocking dyeing feels like opening a whole new chapter- giving old fabrics fresh potential, deeper stories, and new energy.

There is still so much to learn but now I’ve begun I can’t wait to expand on this. Thank you again Jo for sharing your wisdom 💗

One year of sketchbook pages in 60 seconds ✨📖

There’s no requirement on my degree to document research, experiments, or process… but I choose to. It’s a core part of how I grow and understand my practice.

This sketchbook is filled cover to cover from the past academic year (which feels very satisfying). Flicking through it like this made me realise just how much is actually there, every idea, every test, every book, every shift in direction.

Sometimes you don’t see the progress until you zoom out and best of all, now I get to buy a new sketchbook which every artist will tell you is half the fun ✨

End of year 1 MA Fine Art ✨

“enlightenment.exe” an installation exploring storytelling, authorship, and how knowledge shifts within a contemporary digital landscape. Drawing on Aesop’s fables and Goya’s The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters, the work considers how myth, belief, and misinformation operate in a post-truth, data-driven culture.

Huge thank you to @johnmooremuseum for letting me study these incredible animals up close. Thank you @stellaashmeade_artteacher for your help displaying the work today. @b_a_r_r_a_ and Barry thank you for the constant support on top of the fact that we just had the busiest month of the school year ✨

Just a quick note: a few of these photos have had a little digital glow-up because I didn’t quite get around to painting the wall or figuring out a way to make cables invisible, consider it part of the installation’s “extended reality” 😅

We visited to support my MA research into the Jacquard loom and ended up completely fascinated 🤯

First ever en plein air competition… and what a day for it 🌦️🌬️ Painting (well, stitching in my case) through summer wind and rain for the @wtscollective en plein air competition!

I created a textile piece inspired by a pigeon perched on a Victorian spiral bench armrest, using secondhand fabrics from my collection 🧵🪡

Feeling incredibly grateful that it was highly commended 🤍

Between GCSE and A-level exams, finishing the first edition of Mauve, all the excitement of Fringe Arts Bath Festival and writing a couple of reports, it’s been hard to carve out time for practical work - but this half term I’ve been battling the heatwave trying to find my flow again 🌀

I can’t wait to share some new work with you soon!

What a lovely start to half term! 🎉 On Friday night I went to the opening of The Fringe Arts Bath Festival to see The Stitch that Bit Back, an exhibition exploring how fibre arts can be used to resist and subvert 🪡🧵 @fringeartsbath

Peter (patter) (2026) a life-sized textile sculpture of a black cat, was selected for inclusion in the show. I made Peter entirely from recycled fabrics, household items and “storied matter.” Drawing on folkloric ideas of luck, labour and chance, Peter sits as a quiet, watchful presence 🐈‍⬛

The exhibition contains a wide variety of works exploring a vast array of interpretations on the theme, it was incredibly inspiring to see such a range of techniques and ideas ✨

Peter was one of the first textile sculptures I ever made, and in preparing him for exhibition I realised how far my process has developed over the course of my MA ! 🐈‍⬛

The exhibition is on until 6th June at Newark Works in Bath, definitely worth seeing if you’re nearby 💗

Using a beautiful custom pin from @littlegreen.jewellery as the base, I gathered together all my silver notions and tools and used a few jump rings and ribbons to bring it all together 💖

Chatelaines date back to the 18th century traditionally worn at the waist, they were used to carry essential household tools like keys, scissors, and sewing bits. The name means “mistress of the castle” ! A kind of Victorian ladies tool belt ✨

A little bit of history, a little bit of making, and a lot of joy in the details 🤍 maybe now I’ll be able to find my little scissors ✂️

Meet Florence ✨ A Work in progress ✂️🧵

This textile bust is part of the ongoing visual narrative I’m developing for my university project, inspired by folk stories and the way they’re passed down, altered, and retold over time. Using sustainably sourced fabrics, lace, and reclaimed materials, I’m exploring ideas around identity, memory, and storytelling through textiles.

Sustainability is an important part of my process, this piece is built from reused textiles and secondhand materials, giving new life to objects that already carry their own histories.

Still very much a work in progress, but I’m excited to see how this piece continues to grow as the project develops.

After many months of tinkering away, this little black cat sculpture is finally complete. Black cats, like magpies, are harbingers of both luck and misfortune- depending what you believe and where you are from. Peter is made from a recycled plastic and wire armature and layered with reclaimed textiles 💕🐈‍⬛
